Dear Peralta CCD Colleagues,
First, congratulations on a successful fall semester kickoff! On behalf of the entire Board, let me say how proud we are of our faculty, staff, and administrators who are making heroic, extraordinary adjustments and sacrifices to maintain learning and support for our students as the COVID-19 crisis continues to hammer our community. We never could have imagined this situation, much less that it would go on for so long . . . yet, you keep doing the right things for the right reasons—the good of our students and community. Enormous thanks!
Interim Chancellor Search Update
The Board met Wednesday night (August 26, 2020) and approved the Position Announcement for the Search. This may sound like a simple step, but let me assure you we did this with significant consideration informed by two vital sets of contributions from the Peralta Community:
- The Interim Chancellor District Survey. THANKS go to the 248 faculty, staff, administrators, and student leaders who took time to provide feedback. You can review responses from each of the constituent groups and a synopsis of findings in the Survey Report posted on the Interim Chancellor Search 2020 webpage.
- The Search Committee, which held its first meeting Wednesday as well. This body includes representatives from all internal constituencies and will add community members at our next meeting. The 11 faculty, staff, administrators, and student leaders are giving significant time and bringing rich and diverse perspectives to strengthen our search process, and it is enlightening to serve with them, along with trustees Cindi Napoli-Abella Reiss and Bill Withrow. One notable outcome from our discussion was to make our institutional commitment to equity-mindedness and social justice more explicit in the position announcement and selection process. I will send the list of committee members to you in my next message.
Today the posting for the interim chancellor position officially opens and will remain open for applications until midnight September 10. The Position Announcement is available here and is posted on the Interim Chancellor Search 2020 webpage, along with the process and timeline. This position will be advertised in regional, state, and national outlets. Interested applicants can apply online at https://peraltaccd.peopleadmin.com/postings/5161.
