Dear Student,
I hope your first week at the Peralta Colleges – Berkeley City College, College of Alameda, Laney College, and Merritt College – has gone well. As I wrote last week, we are here to support you so please let us know if you have a need for assistance.
One thing that was clear from last week is that the thousands of students who came to campus really appreciated being here, in-person. We are working hard to make that experience even better for you. The Peralta Community College District vaccination policy helps make our campuses as safe as possible for students, employees, and visitors. I appreciate your adherence to the vaccination policy.
Per that policy, all students who wish to enter campus should be vaccinated. We have set October 7, 2021 as the deadline for getting vaccinated. There are many options available to you for getting vaccinated:
When visiting a campus please continue to use Campus Shield app to take the COVID Health Assessment and show your “green screen” so you are able to pass through the safety checkpoints and enter buildings and classrooms.
Soon will be providing you with instructions on how to provide your vaccination proof so that you can continue to come on our campuses after October 7th. Per the policy, exceptions are available for medical and religious reasons and we will be providing instructions on how to request an exception.
Please visit the Safe Peralta website at https://safe.peralta.edu/ to keep up with the latest developments here at PCCD.
Thank you and be well,
Jannett N. Jackson, PhD
Interim Chancellor
