August 27, 2021
Dear Peralta Employees,
I’m writing to provide you with an update regarding the Peralta Community College District COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. As a condition of employment, PCCD employees must upload your vaccination proof by October 7, 2021.
As noted in my announcement from August 5, 2021, vaccinations are required for employees and students. All employees are asked to upload your vaccination details via Company Nurse here, which we are using for both daily screening when you visit campus and for storing vaccination information. Instructions for using Company Nurse are available here and on Safe Peralta. Please have your vaccination record or exemption request uploaded as soon as possible, but no later than October 7, 2021. The exemption request forms, which should also be uploaded via Company Nurse, are available on Safe Peralta.
Beginning on October 8, 2021, the vaccination policy will be enforced for employees and students. For employees, failure to comply with the vaccination policy requirements may be grounds for administrative action. Employees in need of the vaccination should contact your healthcare provider, use the free Alameda County Public Heath Department vaccination service, or sign up for the upcoming clinic at Laney College on September 9, 2021 (click “continue” to select the Laney College vaccine site). Most commercial pharmacies are now offering free vaccinations as a walk up service.
Thank you to all the faculty, staff and administrators who worked so hard to make the first week of Fall 2021 semester go as smooth as possible for our students. This week we came together, in the spirit of Ubuntu, to help our students.
One thing that was clear from this week is that the students that were studying on campus really appreciated being here, in-person. The Peralta Community College District vaccination policy helps make our campuses as safe as possible for students, employees, and visitors. I appreciate your adherence to the vaccination policy.
The situation with COVID-19 and the Delta variant is changing rapidly. Please visit the recently redesigned Safe Peralta website at https://safe.peralta.edu/ to keep up with the latest developments here at PCCD.
Again, thank you all for your dedication in serving the students of the Peralta Community College District.
Be Well, and Stay Safe,
Jannett N. Jackson, PhD
Interim Chancellor
