National Rainbow College Fund (NRCF) – $2,500 Scholarships The 2026–2027 NRCF application is now open for California students. This scholarship supports students who have faced barriers related to sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression—and is open to all applicants and allies who support these principles.
Recipients receive $2,500 to help cover tuition, books, fees, housing, and other educational expenses.

CCPRO Writing Scholarship – $500 Award The California Community College Public Relations Organization (CCPRO) is offering two $500 scholarships to California community college students.
Students must write, pitch, and publish a news article in their college newspaper or online publication (or submit a press release if no student publication exists). Articles must be published between July 1, 2025 and March 9, 2026.
If so, it’s crucial to meet with a counselor ASAP to:
Review your readiness for a Certificate or Degree Evaluation Petition
Get assistance with updating your SEP and confirming any remaining requirements
💡 Did you know? You only need 60 units to earn your AA Degree. You may have already met the requirements for certificates or degrees and not even realize it!
The deadline to petition to graduate is Friday, March 13, 2026.
Looking for an internship? The Laney Student Employment Services Center, in partnership with Oakland Rotary and Eagle’s Rotaract, is hosting a community hiring event you won’t want to miss.

Meet employers offering exciting internship opportunities, gain career insights from industry professionals, and expand your network. You’ll also learn how to get involved with the Laney Eagle Rotaract Club to build leadership skills and make a real impact in the community.
Please note that beginning Wednesday, March 25 through Sunday, April 5, 2026, a portion of the Laney parking lot (estuary side) will be closed for our annual carnival.
The carnival will be open to the public from March 27 at 4:00 PM through April 5. (For reference, Spring Break is March 30 – April 3.)
A section of the parking lot will remain available, but students and staff are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra time for parking during this period.

Join Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D., California Secretary of State, and the Students Vote Project for a virtual event focused on civic engagement and the upcoming 2026 election cycle.
