August 10, 2021
Greetings Peralta Community,
The Peralta Community College District (PCCD) Board of Trustees took courageous steps to be the first of the Bay Area community college districts to implement a COVID-19 Vaccination Policy for all students and employees. The District is currently in negotiations with the collective bargaining units so that the administrative procedure and our COVID-19 Prevention Plan can be adopted before the beginning of the fall semester.
Return to Campus Plans
As part of that guidance from the Board, the Department of General Services (DGS) has been working diligently and partnering with local vendors to accomplish the required cleaning, sanitation, security, and safety measures necessary for a smooth transition with Phase 1 of our back to campus plan, the opening with limits on August 23, 2021.
We have solicited assistance from High Performance Learning Environments (HPLE). They will be assisting DGS with the overall coordination of our return to campus process. HPLE will also provide COVID and post-COVID standard operating procedures for cleaning, which PCCD staff will be responsible for implementing on an ongoing basis as we gear up for Phase 2 (Spring 2022 full return to campus).
We are taking a coordinated effort with vendor support to prepare for in-person instruction of students:
- The replacement of air filters will be installed by staff, while ACCO will assist us in the installation of additional filters.
- Air balancing and testing will be done by Forensic Analytics.
- Knowledge Saves Lives & Marina Security will address access, public safety and security.
- We have contracted with Ray & Associates, a local cleaning company, to deep clean and assist our custodial and maintenance employees.
Here are slides from a presentation made to senior administrators on August 4th plus an update provided on August 9th. The presentations outline district and campus responsibilities and provide a list of buildings that will be occupied in the fall (see pages 5-9), with a tentative schedule of activities (see pages 22-27). Of special note are pages 10-17 which outline the district responsibilities highlighted in blue, and the campus roles highlighted in green.

NOTE: The dates for specific room and building cleanings are preliminary, fluid, and subject to change.
We feel confident stating that the buildings we will occupy on August 23rd will be ready and will meet appropriate safety and cleanliness protocols.
Again, thank you for your support, as we address the myriad of issues involved in the return to campus.
